TOM - I found this photo while browsing through google images looking for pictures of Joseph Smith.
title
From what I have read people are claiming that this is possibly an actual picture of Joseph released by the RLDS organization. What are the chances of this really being him. Have church leaders already debunked this? It sure would be exciting to have an actual picture of him. I just want to know what you think and if you have heard or read anything about this picture. I don't really know what my opinion is on the matter. The man in the picture has very piercing eyes and his physic is very comparable to other authentic sketches and profiles of the Prophet... Let me know what you think.

JOEL - An RLDS(Community of Christ) historian is fairly certain that it is Joseph Smith, but there has been a lot of discussion and argument as to its authenticity. Here's a site with a lot of info on it:

Here's a News article about it from last year:

The current "official" word about the photo from the Church is found in these news links:

Here's another site about the other possible photo:

I have not heard any more from the Church about this since last year. My initial reaction to the photo was that it is not him; but that's just my opinion. I don't know how anyone can be 100% sure about any of the photos. It would be great to know exactly what he looked like but, unless something certain shows up, I am afraid we may have to wait for the resurrection.
