SYLVIA - The Apostle Paul said:
1. God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2. Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Therefore prophets are no longer needed because God spoke through Jesus Christ. ( Heb 1: 1-2)

JOEL - Paul is not saying God will not speak through prophets in the future; but that He spoke through Jesus "in these last days"; meaning in their days while Jesus was there on the earth.
In Revelation 11:3 it says
And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
If prophecy ended with Christ why does John tell us that prophets will exist in the future who will prophesy?
Also, Paul said
11. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12. For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13. Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: (Eph 4: 11-13 )

So Jesus Himself appointed some prophets for the perfecting of the saints in His Church. Why would He do that if prophets were no longer necessary with Him there or during the future days of the original Church after He left?
