KANE - This came from W Cleon Skousen's book, A GOSPEL TRILOGY.
Question: What would result if Jesus had rejected his Father’s plan when on earth and decided on his own not to Atone for all mankind?
Answer: The Son of God would have become a son of perdition.
Question: And what would happen to all the people born on earth if this happened?
Answer: Everyone would have become a lost soul, with no chance at all to ever progress. Also Father in Heaven would cease to be God.

JOEL - His answers are technically correct, but in my opinion "what if" questions like these are really a waste of time because the scenarios proposed would simply never happen. Jesus was the first born of God in the spirit and was predestined to be the God and Savior of this world. Being a God Himself He simply would not refuse to do it. The plan of salvation is one of those eternal principles, like the existence of good and evil, faith, repentance, and free agency that can't not exist.
Even if this were to happen, being God, the Father would probably already have known Jesus would reject it and the assignment would have gone to someone else. The plan of salvation simply had to happen.
