JON - I have noticed through the years that Good people, not only LDS, but Good Christians Seem to suffer harder in things, especially at death. It's like God has a plan in this some how. It seems not a coincidence. I remember the Job and Refiners fire. But it goes deeper. Is the Good purified more with these things for things to come and know in eternity? If so, why and is there anything in the Bible or BOM about it?

JOEL - One thing to consider is that when bad things happen to bad people, we might not be so surprised by it because we might think they are getting what they deserve. It's quite a different thing though when the same bad thing happens to someone who we think don't deserve it. It makes the thing seem worse. Maybe that's why it seems good people are tested more harshly.

In a spiritual context, the righteous are promised that they will not be tempted or tried beyond their ability to endure.

"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." (Alma 13:28-29)

"But that ye would humble yourselves before the Lord, and call on his holy name, and watch and pray continually, that ye may not be tempted above that which ye can bear, and thus be led by the Holy Spirit, becoming humble, meek, submissive, patient, full of love and all long-suffering;" (1 Cor. 10:13)

Everyone on the earth has to be tested and tried whether they are good, bad, LDS or non-LDS. But if you consder these two scriptures it could be that those who have the support and faith that Jesus and gospel brings into their lives, perhaps they are tested a little more than others because they are able to handle more.
Perhaps this kind of experience better prepares us for our future exalted state when we become gods and create and populate our own worlds, which would require us to understand what people have to go through to follow the same path.
